Don't I need fresh urine for accurate results?

No, you do not need a fresh urine sample to obtain accurate laboratory results. Samples can be shipped at room temperature without stabilizers to the laboratory for analysis. For standard urinalysis and culture tests, the values change by less than 10% over the course of 96 hours. The team at QSM Diagnostics has tested the transportation of urine samples extensively and found that results of fresh samples and aged samples are nearly identical. Several other research groups have reached similar conclusions.

Cat Urine Culture & Sensitivity Mail-In Kit

  • The Mail-In Urinalysis test provides results in less than 24 hours after receiving the sample for Quantitative Protein, Quantitative Creatinine, UPCR, Specific Gravity, pH, Glucose, Ketones, Urobilinogen, Bilirubin, Blood, White Blood Cell Count, Red Blood Cell Count, Bacteria Count, EPI Cells, Mucus, Casts, Crystals, Color, and Clarity.

  • Each Kit includes Instructions, 2 pounds of Non-Absorbent Litter orHydophobic Sand, a Litter Box Liner, Eye Dropper, Sterile Collection Cups, Sample Tube, Gloves, Ziplock Bag, Box with 1 day UPS Return Shipping Label. Select the type of litter/sand you would like to use.

 

  • Our internal testing showed that cats preferred the non-absorbent litter, but many cat owners use the Kit4Kat hydrophobic sand successfully for sample collection.
